2021 Atlantic hurricane season saw 21 named storms (Wikipedia article). The third most active season on record. 8 of which made landfall. These hurricanes’ total combined damages for the year were $145 billion dollars.
And even more tragic, there were 538 reported weather-related deaths in 2021. This is considered the deadliest year for major weather disasters since 2017. These are just the souls that were reported. So many more are considered missing or not reported as weather-related deaths.
